Texas Tornado: The Autobiography of a Crusader for Women's Rights and Family Justice
Published in Hardcover by Citadel Pr (February, 2003)
Authors: Louise Ballerstedt Raggio, Vivian Anderson Castleberry, and Ann Richards
Average review score:

Texas Tornado
The book is not only a rich history of the fight for women's rights in Texas and the US but a wonderful look into the life of an incredible woman. The story is told with such warmth that you end up loving this tough, spunky, little woman. The book is a must read for every lawyer in the state of Texas while also a wonderful example of a dedicated wife (under often horrid circumstances) and a devoted mother.
Louise Raggio is definitely a Texas Tornado.

enjoying Texas Tortes
Get this book. The recipes are wonderful and well written. No Blah-blah. There are tidy little illustrations, and a nice section of basic components that are used throughout the book.

I bought the book at the annual UT press sale, where the employees said "He's been bringing us samples an they are wonderful!"

Texas Trains

Average review score:

An exciting and enjoyable read for railroad lovers
Texas Trains by Texas railroading enthusiast Richard Troxell is wonderful collection of history, stories and trivia on and about railroading in Texas. Troxell traveled 11,802 miles of Texas railroad track in researching and writing this superbly crafted compendium that ranges from train wrecks to railroad towns, from steam engines to train robbers, and offers welcome advice as to where you can go to see historic trains today. A special feature of Texas Trains is its unique treasure hunt; there is a 14k gold "Missing Train" buried somewhere in Texas, and clues to its location lie hidden within the book! Texas Trains is an exciting and enjoyable read for railroad lovers and Texas history buffs.

Totally captivating
My mother in law told me to read this trilogy and at first I thought it started slow but as I got into it I could not put the books down. My husband would talk to me and I could not hear him. Lol I loved it and am sure you will. It is one of those type of books where you become the characters.

Texas Two-Step

Author: Debbie MacOmber

Meant For Each Other!!
If you've read and enjoyed first in the Heart of Texas series than you'll enjoy this one. Glen and Ellie made the book so interesting that I couldn't put it down until I had finshed it. It also had me laughing in places. This was well written and the humor had it's place in the story. Glen was funny in his attempts to get Ellie from having anything to do with Richard romantically. This is a book that you won't be able to put down. It's so well written that you can understand the struggles that Glen has within himself over his friendship with Ellie and his wanting to change that relatioship to something more. Debbie Macomber has done a great job with the characters and the unfolding storyline. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read and those who haven't read any Debbie Macomber books.

Breathtakingly awesome!
Holmes and Schliesing are authors whose books that we will soon be shown on the bestseller lists!

TEXAS VICTORY is a romp through an untapped chapter of drama on the Texas frontier. Not a horse western, not another fast-draw artist. An arrogant warrior prince brings his colony into the Hill Country wilderness. He faces Comanche Chief Fleetaumountec who accuses him of eating the wife the chief gave him. Frau Greta Gotlieb, his fiancee's lady-in-waiting, despises the man from the first day. The immigrants' abhorrence to slavery put them at odds with fellow Texans. The prince takes action. The characters are loveable and warm. The love story is overwhelming, the resolution spell binding.

TEXAS VICTORY is the sort of book that when one gets near to the end, one begins reading slower because he/she doesn't want to see it end. This is a must have book for men, women, Texans and non-Texans alike!

Texas Women Writers: A Tradition of Their Own (Tarleton State University Southwestern Studies in the Humanities , No 8)

Authors: Sylvia Ann Grider and Lou Halsell Rodenberger
Average review score:

A timely introspection of some literary women of Texas
The enveloping pace of this book is wonderfully integrated with information. I was delighted to recognize authors I did not know had Texas roots. My out-of-state visitors also found authors they had read and loved, and in one instance, knew personally. It is time to recognize the past and present talent in Texas. This book's charm is not limited to Texans, or women only.
